5 Easy Ways to Reduce Stress

5 Easy Ways to Reduce Stress

One of the best things you can do for your health is to learn ways to release and reduce your stress levels.

Sometimes this is easier said than done especially as life gets busier and we fill our day to the brim with activities.

We each have a responsibility to our physical body and unless we make the choice to slow down and stop and say ‘no’ to taking on more and more in our life, our body will produce way too much adrenaline and cortisol, causing our system to be stuck in flight/fight. And this is problematic!

So, what to do?

Take a serious look at your life. How busy are you? How much are you trying to fit in to one day? How many things is your body really ok with doing in one day? Can you really tell what this is, what this looks like? The best and easiest way to know is to feel it, in your body.

Get in touch with your Self

That’s right, but what does that look like, well, it looks like stillness. The idea is to stay still long enough to feel the body’s movements internally. When you do this you may feel little bubbles of movement, twitches in the muscles, a zingy feeling internally which is actually energy movement, or any other movement within. If you have painful areas in the body you can tune in to these spots and notice if they are warm or hot, indicating some inflammation, or perhaps if you ask ‘what are you trying to tell me’ you may get an answer from your subconscious about what it is you are not doing, or something that you are doing that isn’t aligned with your higher Self, your soul or spirit. Listening to these messages from the subconscious mind (more about this in another blog) is really very important and a very easy way to know if you are doing what you are meant to be doing.

If you can see that changes are needed and you decide to ignore this, what are the chances of improvement, seriously??

You are the only one who can make the choice to change, you and only you? If you don’t believe me, then try this for a week and see how you feel at the end of it. Can you do this? For you?

“Whaaat?” Aren’t you tired of hearing this everywhere? It’s true though, meditating calms the mind, restores balance to the body and releases stress. Yes, it does? So, how do you meditate without meditating?

Did you know meditating comes in many different forms?

Many people think of meditation practice as sitting cross-legged for a really long time, trying to push through those uncomfortable bodily sensations.

Noooo, that’s not the best way to do it!! It is one way, but it doesn’t work for us westerners. So, what is the best way? Well, below I have included two techniques that are pretty simple but can have very profound effects.

Mindfulness Practice

Set a timer so you won’t be distracted with how long it is taking. Best to start with 2 mins first. You’ll be surprised at how long it takes to get through 2 mins. Then each 2 days increase by 1 min until you get to 6 mins. You can do this in the toilet if you can’t escape outside or it’s noisy where you are, but it is best to sit outside, in the a la natural space, because, well nature is very grounding and creates a sense of stillness along with balance and stability within the energy field.

Spend 2-5 mins with you eyes closed doing this breathing technique.  Focus on the tip of your nose and take in a deep breath…. feel the breath as it comes in….notice how cold it is….then hold the breath and count to 3….then release it out of your nostrils…notice how the warm air gently blows against the top lip, almost tickling it…continue doing this until the timer goes….

Yay, you did it?

So how do you feel now? I can guarantee you must be feeling somewhat calmer!!

Repeating a word that resonates with a high frequency can also have profound impacts on the mind and hence the body.

There are many words that vibrate at a high frequency and that can be used, however, one of the most sacred of holy words is AUM (Om) which, according to Hindu philosophy, is the primordial sound that represents the threefold nature of cosmic vibration and is the most sacred. It resonates at three frequencies of vibration and is pronounced,  for its power, like the word “home” not ‘from’.

The “A” represents creative vibration and needs to be pronounced short and in a high pitch rather than a long ‘A’ sound.

The “U” is pronounced “oo” as in “moon” and is pitched lower than the “A” and represents preservation.

The “M” is deep like a rumbling and represents the end of a universal cycle, cosmic dissolution.

The sound of AUM vibrates at 432Hz which is the same vibrational frequency that is found in nature and is said to be the natural frequency of the universe and also to have cosmic healing powers. So with that in mind, why not practice this universal sound to raise your vibration for 5 minutes before you go to sleep.

Music comes in many forms, but the best way to reduce stress fast is to listen to music that has a high vibration. Just like there are mantras that vibrate at high frequencies, certain music does also and affects us the same way.

Our body is made of up to 70% water and music can change the molecular structure of the water as was seen in Dr. Masaro Emoto’s experiments and in his book ‘The Message from water’. He froze droplets of water and photographed them under a dark field microscope. Each of the crystalline structures had patterns that were different depending on the environment and style of music played in the waters vicinity. It shows how much our molecular structures are affected by our environment at a deeper level.

I love Spotify for my music and I find there are playlists created by others that bring great peace to the mind and body. Yoga playlists seem to have a wonderful variation of artists and one of my favourites is Hatha Yoga created by Spotify, another is Indian Chill, Osho Radio and Sharade Radio. Each of these has a slightly different style and some are just instrumental which is great to play while working.

So there you have it, five easy ways to release stress, bring about a sense of balance and calmness and raise your vibration. You can use these techniques anywhere, the challenge is, taking action to make the changes. So remember…

“Success is not an uphill task if you raise your thoughts and your vibration to the highest place it can reach then everything is easier because it is all downhill” – Sadghuru
